Oriol Quintana (Barcelona, 1974) is professor of Ethics and Christian Thought at the Universitat Ramon Llull and has also worked as a secondary school teacher in Philosophy and Religion. Much of his work, including his award-winning doctoral thesis, focuses on George Orwell and explores the essential humanism underpinning his writings. He has also written several books on philosophy and his essay, Sloth, forms part of the collection The Seven Deadly Sins. His is a critical philosophy which often criticises the productive urge of modern society and calls out the hypocrisy of the spiritual philosophies which claim to confront it.
